Power Mongering

There is nothing constructive that can be done with power. I've seen others say there is good power and bad power. It only shows how deceptive the lure of power is.

Power is the positive reinforcement for the psychological conditioning of corruption. It's like bell sounds to Pavlov's dog. Pavlov's dog would have decreed bell sounds to be the most noble answer to everything, being a stimulus for the positive reinforcement of food.

Corrupters assume that if they could only control every outcome, it would solve their problems. Power is their ability to do so.

Attempting to control people is to take away their freedom. Why is freedom important? Because it is impossible to function properly without freedom. It's like two persons in the same pair of pants. Or it is like one person driving, while a different person looks at the road. The feedback mechanism required for control does not get transferred to a second persons when they control someone. So it's driving blind to attempt to control someone.

This would be true even if the motives were spotless. But control freaks don't have constructive motives. They are driven for selfish motives. They want to get ahead of others. Getting ahead of others means degrading them, not improving their ability to function.

It is often assumed that power over matter is different. People need to control matter to create order. Notice that power is assumed to be necessary for control. To control people, power is needed, because people fight back against a force which destroys their ability to function. Subduing them requires power. Matter does not fight back, so power is not needed for control. Instead, rationality is needed to control matter.

Corrupters assume that more and more power will give them more and more ability to function constructively. They couldn't be more wrong. When everything fails to go as planned, they assume some enemies must be creating trouble. Their enemies are in their own minds.

A major problem with power, which goes unnoticed, is that it removes the need to evaluate. Dictating is not evaluating. In fact, real and correct evaluation is not possible with power, because the feedback doesn't work. When controlling someone, they get the feedback, not the controller. The controlled person feels the negative effects, while the controller does not.

The absence of evaluation that goes with power is highly noticeable when looking at the abstract realities. Where there is power, you just get empty slogans without a reality content. There is no need for explanations, because power removes accountability.

Without thorough evaluation, everything in a complex world gets screwed up. It's a truism. Therefore, power always screws things up. But this means applied power. Sometimes moral persons acquire positions of power knowing what the trappings are and operate by a standard of rationality instead of domination.

In other words, the most basic reason why power cannot be constructive is because it destroys rationality. What else is power besides bypassing constructive methodology? With rationality, there is no difference between positions of power and absence of power. Rationality is the same for everyone under all circumstances.
