Defining Arrogance
Moral persons and corrupt persons have different views on arrogance. Each sees the other as arrogant. Is there a basic meaning to the word arrogant?
In the moral world, arrogance is the assumption that destroyers have a right to sin at their victims. Conversely, elitism and bigotry tell corrupters that they are superior, which supposedly gives them a right to sin at vulnerable persons. Corrupt persons assume there is arrogance in their victims living, because there isn't supposed to be any life in the persons who they are trying to destroy. Corrupt persons are successful, by their criteria, in destroying their victims. But the victims have truth and justice on their side, which means they are in line with the universe. The victims live spiritually. To not know that they are supposed to be dead is assumed to be arrogance. So what is arrogance? Power gives corrupters the ability to destroy, and then the ability is transformed into a right in their minds. Psychological conditioning with positive reinforcement transforms ability into right. It's appropriate to apply the word arrogance to this mentality, because arrogance is supposed to be a corruption. It is not appropriate to apply the word arrogance to a relationship to the universe which virtue creates, because it is not a corruption. The common denominator in both cases is something undesirable being too imposing. But there are opposite views on what is undesirable. Corruption is created through power. From positions of power, the concern is imagery. From the position of the victims of injustice, the concern is overwhelming destructivity. The victims are concerned about how to survive, while the perpetrators are concerned about the whims of appearance. This is because power is acquired and controlled on the basis of impressions. Group power is the primary source of power in the world. Groups are created and controlled by impressions. This creates an obsession for impressions in the power mongering world. The wrong impressions of a certain type are viewed as arrogance by corrupters. There are a whole lot of errors in thought which are exposed in the false concepts of arrogance. Most significantly, power is assumed to be virtue. Seeking power and using it is assumed to be the primary purpose in existence. Therefore, power is the test and reference which corruptors use for evaluation. To not be seeking, using and worshipping power is assumed to be stupidity and misalignment. Such misalignment is assumed to be an element of arrogance. Both concepts of arrogance (moral and corrupt) include misalignment. The supposed right to destroy people is a misalignment of rights. Finding life in truth and justice is assumed to be misalignment of purpose in life, not being aligned on power. Therefore, the essence of arrogance is misalignment with ignorance. But there is one more factor. It's the "in your face" factor. I'm not sure what the philosophical or Biblical way of saying it should be. When satan sees his victims not being dead enough and producing truth which he cannot tolerate (in his face), he considers it to be too much self-importance. Corruption shifts the concerns from objective requirements to subjective subservience. What all concepts of arrogance have in common is "imposing misalignment with ignorance." But corruption and virtue create opposite concepts of what misalignment and ignorance are. Test of Arrogance |
