The Fraud of Divine Revelation

Divine revelation is not about God, it's about human corruption. Whether it actually begins with God is irrelevant, because the humans who convey God's word corrupt it and cannot agree upon its meaning. Since this problem is so obvious to God, he would never go down the path of supposed divine revelation. The whole concept is a human contrivance.

The overwhelming fraud of divine revelation is in contradicting human responsibilities. Humans lower their standards when promoting divine revelation, because the supposed infallibility of the source material is beyond question. In this way, the claim of divine revelation is used as a substitute for the standards required for proper handling of realities.

The essence of this subject is in what divine revelation replaces, which is the process of reason. But before getting to that part, divine revelation can be put into perspective by equating it with a more general human corruption, which is the tendency to shed accountability by speaking for someone else. Authorities systematically evade accountability by quoting someone, no matter how irrelevant or corrupt the source.

Evasion of accountability is portrayed as a virtue and necessity. It is supposedly humble, because the quoted person is put up front as the claimed source; and it is supposedly purifies the quality of reality by eliminating one's own limitations, as if the source was beyond imperfection. It is fake humility, because the adherents are promoting their own assumptions under the guise of some other source; and it is fake purification of reality, because the more distant source is less accountable than the immediate source. Also, quoted material has little context, which strips it of much of its original meaning and renders it more malleable.

Notice that all of this pertains to divine revelation in exactly the same way it applies to quoting Einstein or Kant. Supposedly the person does not speak for himself, while the truth is he is not capable of speaking for anyone but himself. This standard is a corruption of methodology in handing reality.

Humans are not capable of conveying God's reality to other humans. Humans can only speak for themselves. Speaking for oneself is not the "speaking on one's own" which Christ admonished against (John 7:18). Speaking on one's own is saying, "I'm the infallible source of this reality," which is what Paul did. Speaking for oneself is saying, "I'm the imperfect corrupter of this reality, but through proper procedures of reason, forward progress can be made," which is what every human is supposed to be doing including Paul, Peter and the pope.

Human communication acquires its validity only through a process, not through authority. Even when God is given authority, he uses the process of reason to teach through evidence and explanations creating knowledge—a standard despised by human authoritarians.

To really understand what is wrong with divine revelation, it's necessary to understand the requirements for proper handling of realities. The most significant requirement is accountability. This means the person and his sources are visible and subject to criticism. Without this transparency, nothing but fraud is the result. Even with the best of intentions, people cannot see their own errors without accountability.

Anyone who evades accountability is perpetrating fraud, because truth cannot be produced without it. To understand this truism, it is necessary to realize that there is no such thing as complete and perfect truth. Truth can only evolve toward improvement, just as technology does. To claim someone has truth is like saying someone has perfect technology. What would perfect technology be? The steam engine? The computer? which one?

It's acceptable to use Christ as a source of truth, because he had super-human wisdom and communication abilities. Even then, Christ is only a reliable reference for something which can never be complete. And more importantly, humans can never entirely convey the "truth" from the source to other persons without their own limitations and corruptions entering into it.

The attempt to control and dominate realities through authoritarianism is an obvious obsession in the world. Satan teaches people such corruptions as being virtues due to their gullibility. Supposedly, the social order requires such false purification of realities. Only the authorities know best. Anyone who speaks for such authorities is supposedly purifying the realities of society. To accomplish this, the purified realities must be walled off from attack by enemies, which requires all mechanisms of evading accountability. This standard was just as sacred for Nazism and eugenics as for Einstein and global warming.

Anyone who does not respond to criticism is perpetrating fraud. Criticism is the most essential part of accountability. Without it, realities cannot be improved, and the entire motive and consequence is to protect corruptions.

In the world, criticism is only responded to when the critic carries more weight. If there is no response, the critic's word will be the last word. But there is never a response to critics who have less status. This process is power mongering. The persons with the most status determine the realities. The problem is, power corrupts. Instead of power purifying realities, it guarantees a corruption of realities. What cannot be accepted in a world obsessed with power is that the truth comes from the powerless victims of injustice, because they need truth to correct injustices. The world measures the expertise but never looks at the motives. The motives determine the results, not the expertise, in addition to the fact that the expertise is quite fraudulent due to power mongering.

The control of reality through authoritarianism is certainly the way to monger power, and often such a standard is portrayed as necessary and virtuous; but it cannot improve reality or produce truth. Lying and lying about lying is the only possible result.

This is the baggage that goes with divine revelation. It's like a billboard in front of persons who promote divine revelation. They are saying we are gods in this pit, and we are calling our perversions God's work. In learning to lie to themselves, they are convinced that their own perversions are the highest standard of God's work. Everyone else sees the billboard in front of them, but they don't see it.

Christ taught the process of reason. He gave explanations and evidence for everything he taught. Divine revelation is a contempt for that standard. Its promoters often directly state their contempt for rationality and knowledge (which they often call enlightenment) as being inferior to the supposed word of God which they promote. Without rationality and knowledge they are lying to themselves and making themselves ignorant. Their motive is to monger power due to subconscious forces which drive them to dominate and control others.
