Sin is a separation from objective reality. Something has to replace objective reality. Pretense is what replaces it.

Pretense isn't just a little bit of deterioration of truth. It's a concerted effort by corrupters to change the standard of relating to reality.

Pretense is a major operation, like building a dam, with earth movers going in every direction, and concrete being poured. But the project is much bigger. It includes everything in the universe. What objectively exists must be crossed out in minds, while a substitute derived from pretense must replace it.

Of course, the project can never be completed, but we see major examples everywhere. Relativity is one of the simplest examples. It has almost no relevance being totally separated from all laws of nature. Yet it is attached to nearly everything physicists do, almost like a sales tax which corrupters willingly pay to promote their values and standards.

Values and standards get warped by sin in a very basic manner. Separation from reality is like moving to an inhospitable environment, like moving to the moon. Since there is nothing at that location, everything must be synthesized.

The need to synthesize reality is a shift away from constructive purposes in life to destructive purposes. All of life cannot be reconstructed with fake realities. So the effort is self-contradictory and self-defeating, as all sin is.

Corrupters are not aware of the contradictions which they create, because their minds are not right. They got stuff missing in their minds. What's missing is their ability to reason properly. They learn to hate rationality, because they tend to lose when rationality is demanded. In other words, they are incompetent; and they try to reconstruct a methodology which allows incompetent persons to win.

Pretending reality is an attempt to replace rationality with a different method of handling reality which allows ignorant persons to prevail. Incompetent persons prevail through domination, which is force overwhelming rationality.

Over time, corrupters acquire a hate for rationality due to their conflict with it. Whenever they see an opponent produce rationality in an attempt to solve some problem, they see a competitor for reality control who they want to defeat. They defeat their opponents by changing the way reality is handled.

Pretended reality isn't just a plastic image off to the side of life; it is a lifestyle change. It re-orders existence from an attempt to evaluate and solve problems to structuring power through subservience to higher masters. The higher masters are those who contrive the pretended reality that people are supposed to live by.

Contriving pretended reality is like creating a work sheet for employees. Everyone must redesign their lives around the pretended realities.

Things are done a lot differently in the world of pretended realities. It's a lot like Alice in Wonderland. Nothing fits together or makes sense. (Obviously Lewis Carroll was describing this subject through fiction instead of philosophy.)

Getting people on track—serving the masters of pretense—involves a lot of tokenism, which has no objective meaning, but has the purpose of re-orienting ways of thinking. The endless trivia that is demanded of people has this purpose. An example is replacing the electric light bulb with compact fluorescents. Nothing could be more of a wanton destroyer of resources and the environment than compact fluorescent bulbs. But the extreme absurdity is good, when the purpose is to teach people to break away from their normal tendencies of solving problems and enter the world of make believe.

It isn't a different method of designing life. It is sacrificing life to the need to prevail, where incompetence needs to be bolsterd by a method of winning. Fakery is how incompetent persons prevail over rational and constructive persons.
