Rationality in Religion
Humans err in their interpretation of religion. One of their usual errors is to use technicalities to contradict rationality.
Christ taught that rationality is supposed to prevail over technicalities (Mat 15:3-9, Mat 23:24)(Mark 7:6-8). He harped on knowledge and understanding, which are elements of rationality (Mat 15:10)(Mark 4:13, 7:14, 8:21)(Luke 24:45)(John 7:24, 8:43)(Luke 11:52).
The early Jewish religion, based upon Mosaic law, appeared to consist entirely of technicalities and trivial laws. But the beginning of God's religion had to start with the condition that human society was in and work gradually through small steps toward improvements. Evolution of knowledge can only proceed in the same manner as evolution of technology.
Also, the Mosaic laws were transcribed a thousand years after the fact. They were put into words by human interpreters who had a high tendency to use technicalities as a justification.
This is similar to the educational system, where Children are first taught to memorize simple procedures for reading or arithmetic, and later they learn more abstract evaluations.
Regardless of history, there are truisms which are taught in the lessons of life. Rationality cannot be contradicted. Christ taught how to overcome the irrationality and contradictions by evaluating and applying basic principles of morality to everything humans do.
The primitive human society was taught its religious values by demon gods who demanded sacrifices as a form of worship. Paganism was taught as a perverse set of social values. People had no way of knowing what proper social behavior should be.
To please the demon gods the most horrendous sin had to be perpetrated$#151the killing of the most innocent persons, often children, but sometimes animals. Sacrificing taught people how to rationalize sin. If the most horrendous sin could be rationalized as pleasing the gods, so could all other sin.
Four thousand years ago, God the creator who teaches morality began a religion for the purpose of correcting the errors of paganism and overcoming sin. Why would the moral God of the Judeo-Christian religion have the same characteristics as the demon gods? He doesn't. In numerous places in the Old Testament, attempts were made to wean people away from the practice of sacrifice (Isaiah 1:11)(Jer 7:22)(Hosea 6:6)(Psalms 40:7, 50:8-15)(Mat 9:13, 12:7)(Mark 12:33). Christ said it is mercy God wants, not sacrifice (Mat 9:13).
You might assume that such a destructive ritual as sacrifice would have been corrected from the start. It wasn't possible. It took centuries of work to overcome the practice.
And then Paul reinstituted the theology of sacrifice in Christianity. It undid and contradicted everything Christ taught. It not only promoted the values and ethics of destroying innocent persons, but it replaced the moral philosophy which Christ taught with a ritual by saying sin was taken care of on the cross.
The only explanation that can be given by promoters of Paul's corruption is that the words in the Bible come from God and cannot be questioned. Who says so besides frauds? Christ gave numerous examples of corruptions in the Scriptures (Mat 19:7, 22:23-33)(John 8:1-11).
The only basis for the claim that the Bible is inerrant is that it is supposed to be God's book. What prevents anyone from corrupting God's book. Nothing does.
The proof is in the result. Paul's words are an assault upon rationality and everything Christ taught. If sin were taken care of on the cross, there would have been no reason for Christ to teach.
Paul admitted that he was corrupt (1Cor 2:3, 9:15)(Rom 7:14). He said that he would only get free from sin be leaving the body and existing as spirit only (Rom 6:7). He contradicted his own theology which says sin was taken care of on the cross. He also contradicted all of Christ's teaching which described human responsibilities for overcoming sin. And he contradicted the logic that the God who teaches morality would not be a pervert like the demons who demand destruction of innocent persons or animals for his pleasure.
Therefore, the obvious facts show that Paul's theology is extremely corrupt. On the other side is nothing but the claim that no corruption could enter God's book. Why should that assumption be true in conflict with obvious facts? It is not logical that humans could not corrupt a book written by humans. When humans defy God in every other way, there is nothing to prevent them from defying God in writing a book. If God could perfect human actions in producing the Bible, then he could perfect any other human actions, but it never happened.
The modern educated society is supposed to be able to evaluate all realities in terms of objective reality. In fact, the only way anyone can really determine if Christ was telling the truth or had anything worth saying is by looking at the objective evidence in life. Primitive humans could be forgiven for accepting absurdities or not recognizing lies. Modern humans have no excuse for making such errors. All truth can be evaluated in the objective evidence that is available in the lessons of life.
Therefore, objective evidence precedes all other tests for validity. For supposed Christians to say some absurdity has to be fact because some one says so including the Bible is not true and is not respectable. There is no excuse in the modern society for promoting any reality that is in conflict with objective evidence, and this includes everything in the Bible and the supposed work of the Holy Spirit.
For example, Galileo was persecuted for supposedly contradicting the Bible. It turns out that the Bible did not say what the popes and bishops thought it said. The telescope was the determining factor.
The same is true of evolution. Supposedly the Bible says all animals were created at the same time, which was six thousand years ago. Supposedly there was only one ice age, and it occurred within the past six thousand years. The shortest ice ages last one hundred thousand years, and there have been dozens of them.
Why would not the same thing be true of Paul's corruption? Why would not sacrificing innocent persons to please a god be perversion rather than virtue?
Promoters of Paul claim Paul speaks for God because Paul says so. A Person's validity is not determined by himself. Even Christ's validity cannot be determined apart from objective evidence.
Morally weak persons assume that a few persons have to be sacrificed for the good of the many. I would say that morality requires otherwise.
But even that logic does not apply to Paul's theology, because he did not base sacrifice on the good of the many. Paul's theology of sacrifice or atonement is based upon God's supposed inability to forgive humans without a blood offering.
The proof of the fact that only objective evidence can determine moral truth is that the modern society accepts no other determining factor. Every person argues logic and demands evidence for all decisions which affect himself. Primitive societies had tack-ons of laws, rituals, slogans or whatever which were allowed to defy logic and evidence.
Modern man leaves no element of his life divorced from logic and evidence, the simple reason being that there has never been an example of a constructive fact existing in conflict with logic and evidence. Even though there are still charlatans who claim logic and evidence can be defied, they do so only for abstractions which do not affect themselves. They always demand logic and evidence for everything which affects themselves.
Believe it or not, material life was created for that reasonso people could overcome sin by determining the truth through logic and evidence. There are not supposed to be dark corners for charlatans to promote fraud as God's supposed word. The Bible is not supposed to be such a dark pit for promoting perversions.
