Rationality Applied

Reason is a process of relating one reality to another. Rationality is the application of reason to solving problems. This process brings people into contact with objective reality (realities outside a person's own mind).

There is usually no social awareness of what rationality is or its importance. This is tragic, because rationality is the answer to everything; and irrationality is how corruption is promoted.

You say bullroar. I claim Paul produced nothing but irrationality, and he replaced Christ as the source of Christianity. Paul did not relate his claims to evidence, which is irrationality. We have to take his word for it. By contrast, Christ showed evidence and said to evaluate evidence for his teaching (Mat 7:8, 13:16, 15:10)(Mark 4:13, 8:18)(Luke 8:18, 10:23,24 12:54-57, 24:45)(John 7:24, 8:43). Evaluating evidence is rationality.

Paul was about power mongering, which is separation from objective reality. The opposite is rationality, which is contact with objective reality.

People don't realize that a correct process will result in answers to problems. A lot of reason occurs automatically, when rational persons try to solve problems. In fact, there may be no such thing as a complete absence of rationality in the functioning of a mind. But it should not be left to chance the way it is. Not only is it left to chance, corrupters trick people into assuming their fraudulent substitutes for rationality are of value, if not superior. The substitutes include all sorts of lying, misrepresenting, mocking, accusing and scandalizing.

It is imperative to first know why rationality is important. Rationality is the link between a person and the universe around him. Just as a person with poor eyesight needs glasses to see, minds need rationality to determine the nature of objective reality which they are concerned with. It's like driving to get someplace. Rationality is like driving the mind through objective reality.

One of the problems is that people tend to assume they must know the answers to questions or rely upon someone who does, as if knowledge comes from nowhere. This unawareness makes people vulnerable to charlatanism and gnosticism. Frauds will claim to have the answers to anything and everything, which they acquire through some mysterious source of wisdom which others do not have.

Rationality is similar to science in that it is a procedure for acquiring knowledge. You apply the procedure, and the result is more knowledge. As Christ said, "He who seeks, finds" (Mat 7:8).

The way it's done is to relate to all of the relevant, surrounding realities. Relating means describing or questioning. Once the process begins, it automatically expands, as one question leads to another. Insights come to mind, as a person thinks about various elements of a concern. A person actually finds that there were answers in previous experiences which he didn't realize until he started to think about the subject. But rationality is more than thinking; it is pinning down some of the important realities on a subject through communication including writing. It also includes discussions with persons who are concerned with the subject. It may be dialog with opponents. Dialog might sound like a waste of time; but it produces answers.

One reason why there needs to be more awareness about rationality is to recognize the inadequacy, if not the fraud, of defying rationality. Frauds are constantly hoodwinking people into accepting something that is not true. If they were using proper reason, the truth would be evident. So they use nonreason. Basically, nonreason involves claims without explanations—accusing, scandalizing and lying. People need to know that honest persons provide explanations which allow truth to be evaluated. The persons who do not are frauds who need to be rejected. Pretending to have secret wisdom which is not being explained is not the sign of gods; it's the sign of frauds.

An example is the manner in which global warming propaganda is promoted. It wouldn't be happening if people were demanding and producing rationality. Instead, frauds throw lies out as if they were unquestionable facts. Demand explanations or call them frauds. I describe the truth about global warming on my science web site. You aren't going to look to find out? That's irrationality. Contact is a large part of rationality. Prejudice is a large part of irrationality.
