Separation from Reality Is contact with reality good or bad? Contact with reality creates a complex state of existence with requirements for handling realities based on rationality. Separation from reality creates a totally different state of existence, where the condition of reality is sacrificed to other purposes. In fact, conflicts result creating a war against truth and rationality. Here's a quote produced a few years ago by a government official as described by another person: The aide said that guys like me were ''in what we call the reality-based community,'' which he defined as people who ''believe that solutions emerge from your judicious study of discernible reality.'' I nodded and murmured something about enlightenment principles and empiricism. He cut me off. ''That's not the way the world really works anymore,'' he continued. ''We're an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality. And while you're studying that realityjudiciously, as you willwe'll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that's how things will sort out. We're history's actors . . . and you, all of you, will be left to just study what we do.'' There are two philosophical points to be made about the empire which separates itself from reality. Philosophically, life is created by and sustained by reality. Morality is that which sustains life. Life can only be degraded through separation from reality, which is immorality. Secondly, all corrupters prove themselves wrong through their own contradictions. If they are separated from reality, then they have no basis for telling anyone anything. Their attempts to persuade are attempts to convince someone that their reality is in line with the objective reality of life. They have no basis for persuasion or communication without objective reality; yet they want people to believe what they say, as if they were the most sacred things since apple pie and motherhood. At times they would disavow their separation from reality, but power mongering always is a separation from reality, which is why the statement was made. The aid was trying to justify their obvious disconnect from reality. The quoted material indicates that there is a new state of existence which goes with empire. But there is nothing new about it. Not only is all sin a separation from reality, all forms of power are separations from reality. There is nothing that can be done with power which is not in conflict with reality. Before people can learn to relate properly to reality, they need to know why. A world of sin teaches people multiple standards, which is hypocrisy. Sometimes people learn the strictest rules for handling reality, which might be a skill or profession, but then they turn off those rules and make exceptions for other purposes. In making exceptions, they exploit reality for personal gain while corrupting the common reality (universal reality) which everyone else depends upon. That's sin. It's like throwing litter in the ditches. The Nazis operated on the assumption that morality doesn't work, and the only responsible way to run a society is through sin. They proved otherwise. Sin is never constructive. Yet the basic concept has never been clearly established in a lot of minds that sin never pays. Too many people are still trying to make sin pay. But they always assume that their sin is so trivial and necessary, while someone else's sin is so bad and unnecessary. The truth is in the morality which Christ described. No one else has clarified it like he did. Christ said his entire purpose in appearing was to "testify to the truth" (John 18:37). This obviously says that contact with reality is everything. He also said that truth would set people free from sin (John 8:32, 34). What this means is that the dupes who can do no more than "judiciously study" the effects of sin could stand up and put an end to the fraud by using truth to do it. Actually, they assume they are producing truth in their judicious study, but the reason why they are such a bunch of losers is because they reject the most important truths, as Christ taught them. By studying the corrupters instead of studying the basics of morality, they are doing no more than trying to compete for the control of power rather than ending the sin. |
