Conservatives are doing nothing to fix the general economy, because "now is not the time for socialism." I wonder how FDR got it so wrong.

Look at the insanity: The fixers (under Paulson's and Bernanke's direction) are throwing hundreds of billion of dollars into the banking system to loosen up credit. Still the banks won't lend. Instead, the banks are hoarding money. Aren't banks in the business to lend? Why don't they want to make money by lending?

Because they have been in the business long enough to know that loaning money to someone who is going under is throwing money down a rat hole. The banks can't loan money, because the general economy is disintegrating. No amount of "pork" thrown at the banks will fix the general economy. The "pork" has to be thrown at the public, not the banks, to fix the economy; but that would be socialism.

So what is socialism, and why do conservatives have such a phobia for it? The word socialism is nothing but an attempt by corrupt persons to justify their elitism. Elitism is a need to destroy powerless persons. For the super elites with power, it means the general public must be made to bleed. You can't make the public bleed and fix an economic decline.

What is socialism? It is giving someone a free lunch. Why is it bad? Because it is the same thing as communism. Why is communism bad? Because dictators oppress their people. So giving to the needy is the same thing as dictators oppressing their people.
